First of all I love lemons, like really love lemons. I often eat them raw! However, this post isn't really about lemons themselves, but more about the well known saying, when life gives you lemons, make lemonade.
Let's face it, too many of us love a good moan, or default to a half glass empty approach...
Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of people in the world, especially right now, who have genuine reasons to be stressed, struggling and in need of a safe space to vent and release.
However, this is about the times we find ourselves moaning, or looking at the things that aren't working out, as opposed to the things that are because it is easy to. When glass half empty is our regular default mode we need to find ways to interrupt the patterning. Taking the time or space to explore how our pile of lemons might also be great for making a delicious pot of lemon sorbet, lemon tea or, or even an environmentally friendly surface or toilet cleaner! (lemon juice + bicarbonate soda works wonders)!
Whilst I joke a little, the gentle reminder is real.
Before we start to complain about what we can't do, where we can't go, what is missing in our lives etc. try pausing and saying thank you. It is important to be honest about how we are feeling, not as a victim, but more as an observer. If you need to rest, rest. If you need to take time out, take time out. If you need to reach out for help, please, find that help, but remember, you might be down, but you are not out.
Life always has our back, especially when we feel as if we have been completely abandoned, or can't understand why the things that are happening to us are happening. This is when life is asking you, "So what are you going to make out of your lemons today!"
